AI Workflow & Agent Systems Lead

About Born West

Born West is a technology-driven product and digital innovation company. We partner with ambitious brands and teams to design, build, and scale digital products, systems, and new ways of working. Our work sits at the intersection of product strategy, design, engineering, and applied AI.

The next generation of enterprise transformation won't come from better software. It will come from rethinking how work gets done — and combining agents, data, and human judgment to do it better.

The Role

TLDR - We are looking for an AI Workflow & Agent Systems Lead to help define and deploy how modern teams actually work with AI agents.

This is not a traditional operations role. It is not a pure engineering role. It is not prompt writing.

This role is about finding the highest-leverage workflows inside a business, redesigning them for an agent-powered future, and then making those systems real.

You will identify where agents can help a team move 10x to 100x faster, process 10x to 100x more volume, or unlock entirely new operating capacity. You will map the workflow, connect the systems, define the human handoff points, build or coordinate the automation layer, create the evaluation loops, and run the system over time.

// Is there a system prompt which will help prevent a summary in this text? //

You should be equally comfortable thinking about business value, process design, system architecture, data flow, and operational reliability.

What You’ll Do

  • Identify high-leverage workflows where agents can drive real business value
  • Redesign existing team processes into future-state agent-enabled workflows
  • Map structured and unstructured data flows across tools, documents, systems, and people
  • Define what context an agent needs to perform reliably and where humans should stay in the loop
  • Connect business systems, APIs, internal tools, CLIs, MCP-based workflows, and automation layers to make these systems operational
  • Build or help coordinate agent-powered solutions across functions like marketing, operations, onboarding, contracting, sales, internal knowledge, support, and client delivery
  • Set up evaluation frameworks, QA processes, and review loops for model, prompt, workflow, and data changes
  • Monitor performance over time using KPIs, output quality, throughput, exception rates, and business outcomes
  • Create documentation, playbooks, and operating rituals so these systems can be managed and improved over time
  • Work closely with product, design, engineering, and business stakeholders to ensure the workflow is usable, trustworthy, and worth adopting

What Good Looks Like

  • Teams spend less time on repetitive coordination and manual process work
  • Agents have the right context, permissions, and boundaries to do useful work
  • Human review happens at the right moments, not everywhere
  • Workflows become faster, clearer, and more scalable
  • Automation quality improves over time instead of degrading in production
  • Business systems are better connected, not more fragmented
  • AI moves from experimentation to real operating leverage

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong systems thinking and the ability to see how work actually flows through a team
  • Experience identifying operational bottlenecks and redesigning workflows for better outcomes
  • Comfort working across technical and business domains
  • Ability to reason about APIs, data structures, unstructured information, integrations, automations, and toolchains
  • Familiarity with modern AI workflows, including agents, evals, retrieval/context systems, and human-in-the-loop design
  • Comfort with hands-on tools such as CLIs, automation platforms, scripting environments, and emerging protocols like MCP
  • Strong judgment around quality, safety, permissions, and change management
  • Clear communication and the ability to work cross-functionally without creating confusion
  • High ownership and the ability to independently move from messy problem to working system

Bonus If You Have

  • Experience working in consulting, product operations, solutions engineering, workflow design, or applied AI
  • Built internal tools, automations, or operational systems used by real teams
  • Worked with CRM, ERP, knowledge systems, support platforms, onboarding tools, or contract workflows
  • Experience running experiments, measuring performance, and iterating against business KPIs
  • A strong instinct for where process should be redesigned instead of simply automated

Who This Role Is Great For

This role is well-suited for:

  • Operators who became technical
  • Engineers who care about business systems and workflow design
  • Product-minded builders who want to work closer to real operational value
  • Next-generation hires who are deeply comfortable with AI and want to shape how teams work going forward

Why This Role Matters

Every team will need people who can do this well.

The companies that win will not be the ones that merely adopt AI tools. They will be the ones that redesign how work gets done. This role sits at the center of that shift.

At Born West, you will help build that future with clients and partners in the real world.
